This past weekend Kerry and I went up to Gilford, NH for the 2008 Timberman Triathlon Festival, but more on that later.
We were also going to put in a cameo appearance at Tall Mike’s surprise graduation party. If you recall from an age-old blog entry, Kerry has a bunch of Snuffleupagi friends. Well, I’m happy to report that they’re real. A little strange, but real.
Oh, and it seems that they like chainsaws:
Jen: “Mike, your friends have been drinking all afternoon and now they’re playing with a chainsaw.”
Mike: “Don’t worry about it, they know what they’re doing. Besides, what could possibly go wrong? It’s just a chainsaw.”
Jen: “I really think you should tell them to stop playing with the chainsaw, Mike.”
Mike: “It’s fine. Really. Don’t worry about it, they’re just cutting down some trees.”
So we all continued talking, eating and drinking while listening to the melodic strains of a chainsaw in the background.
Then we heard the crash, felt the bang, saw Jen go a little pale and in the sudden absence of Mozart’s Chainsaw Melody, moments before taking a very large drink from his slushy we heard Mike say something like “I’m going to pretend that that did not just happen” .
After all, it’s not a party until a tree falls on your house.
Nice one, guys. Snuffy would be proud.
