I’ve never seen an episode of Sesame Street, never really been into the Muppets all that much, and haven’t even seen the Muppets movie. Strangely enough, however, I do know about Aloysius Snuffleupagus. Snuffy, that much-maligned entity on Sesame Street who nobody other than Big Bird could see until episode 2096. Big Bird used Snuffy as a scapegoat for most everything that went wrong when the other adults were out of the room. Snuffy was like the invisible friend that children the world over have used as an excuse for bad behavior or, if they have no or few real friends, as an imaginary friend.
Speaking of imaginary friends, I’m pleased to announce the Cult of K.L. Snuffleupagi Rollcall:

Hmmm, I’m not sure that a penchant for quoting famous philosopher’s and impersonating other people really qualifies as being anything other than a Snuffleupagus …
Okay, well first off, I didn’t quote him, I just dropped his name (proving that I’m a complete poser, much like Byles).
Secondly, if I’m a snufflupagus, how come I can talk to you and not just Kerry…
Then again perhaps this is a whole grandiose delusion…
